19X26mm Perforated Titanium PTFE Membranes – Buccal
Perforated Titanium PTFE membranes are constructed of a thin titanium plate enclosed between two layers of microporous ePTFE with additional macropores. The addition of macropores allows for direct vascularization. This is important because it allows nutrients from the periosteal to the grafting site, accelerating soft tissue healing. Due to the large pore size, this membrane cannot be left exposed as bacteria can penetrate the graft during the healing process. Because of this, primary closure is essential with perforated titanium reinforced PTFE membranes. If primary closure cannot be attained, a collagen membrane should be placed on top of the perforated PTFE membrane. These membranes can be easily fixated either buccally or lingually with titanium tacks or screws.
