Ball tip ends with special angulation help move tissue away from the blades of the scissors, protecting the tissue from being cut. This is especially useful when the sutures are burred within the tissue. Simply center the scissors on the suture, press down with moderate force, open the scissors, and then close to cut. This design prevents bleeding and patient discomfort as well as making sutures easier to remove.

It also allows the needle holder to transmit vibrations very easily, allowing for high tactile feedback.
