Various tools in the dental implant instrument list are used at different stages of treatment. From implantation to maintenance, Dental Implant Technologies has implant instruments for any scenario.

When exploring options from our dental implant instrument list, you’ll find the highest quality tools that ensure the best patient outcomes.

  • Restorative Drivers – Prosthetic drivers are used to place and remove dental implant prostheses during the initial surgery and for maintenance and restoration.
  • Periodontal ProbesThese essential implant instruments are used to assess periodontal tissues. Marked probes can also be used for measurement in specific scenarios, like checking the distance between implants and abutments, or confirming tissue depth.
  • Drills and BursDrills and burs are used to create the osteotomy for dental implant placement. They can also be used in specific scenarios like removing fractured implants or screws.
  • Drill StoppersSafer drilling requires the use of drill stoppers. These are attached to bits to limit the depth of the osteotomy, ensuring patient safety and successful implant placement.
  • PeriotomesImplants are often placed immediately after extraction. Periotomes are used in the extraction process to sever the periodontal ligament. We stock an extensive range of periotomes for general and implant dentistry.
  • Fixation Screws and TacksFixation screws and tacks are used to secure and stabilize membranes and block bone. They’re essential for the grafting process before placing implants.
  • Implant Removal Implant KitsRemoval kits are used to remove both prosthetic fixtures and implant posts, depending on the needs of the surgery.
  • HemostatsDesigned to control bleeding, we have a complete range of hemostats that restrict blood vessels during implant procedures.
  • Bone MillsBone harvested during dental implant surgery can be processed and used for grafting. Our quality bone mills process bone into chips ready for chairside use.
  • Dental Torque WrenchesA reliable torque wrench can be used for both implant placement and abutment placement, as well as abutment removal.
  • Extraction ForcepsForceps are used to grip and remove teeth during extraction.
  • Dental Elevators Some extractions can be performed with elevators. These elevate the crown and root after severing the periodontal ligament.
  • Implant HandpieceA handpiece is a powered tool for implant and abutment placement, offering more convenience than torque wrenches. We supply the most reliable implant handpieces for clinicians.
  • RetractorsRetractors keep the operative site clear and accessible by retracting the tongue, cheeks, and lips. Explore our range of extractors for dental implant surgery.
  • Needle Drivers Suturing is made easier with reliable needle holders/drivers like our Castroviejo Needle Drivers.
  • Periodontal ScissorsDesigned to quickly and effectively trim tissue in a broad range of surgeries, including implant surgery.
  • Bone Expanders and SplittersThe alveolar bone isn’t always sufficient to support dental implants. Bone expanders and splitters are used to separate or expand the ridge to allow for implant placement and grafting.
  • Dental Implant Positioning ToolsWith the right tools, it’s easy to position implants so that adequate space is maintained between both the implants and abutments. We supply reliable implant kits with positioning tools.

Caring for Durable Stainless Steel Dental Implant Instruments

Stainless steel is the industry standard material used for dental implant instruments and a range of surgical instruments. Stainless steel combines the chemical properties of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum to resist pitting and corrosion. Stainless steel is also inherently strong, so dental implant instruments retain their edges and shape.

Caring for stainless steel dental implant instruments is important. With the right steps, you can preserve the instruments used in your practice, maximizing your return on investment. In-office procedures typically involve ultrasonic cleaning and final sterilization.

Ultrasonic Cleaning and Autoclave Settings

It’s always important to clean dental implant instruments before they are sterilized. If biological contaminants are left on the instruments, the sterilization process won’t reach all parts of the metal. Cleaning can be achieved in a few ways, although ultrasonic cleaning is considered the industry standard. An ultrasonic bath uses concentrated sound waves to shake debris loose from dental implant instruments. The liquid solution should be pH-neutral and free of any corrosive chemicals. While stainless steel is resilient, harsh detergents can cause premature deterioration and corrosion. An enzyme-based ultrasonic solution will remove and break down bioburden.

An automatic instrument washer can be used to rinse and dry instruments after the ultrasonic bath. One of the biggest advantages of using an ultrasonic bath and automatic washer is that instruments can be placed into a cassette for cleaning. The cassette prevents sharps from causing injury and helps to keep instruments organized. Instruments can be stored sterile in a suitable secured storage device, such as a cabinet or sterile drawer. Dental Implant Technologies offers a range of stainless steel cassettes, including this 14-Piece Instrument Cassette with Adustable Divider (NX-CS14C).

Manual cleaning isn’t recommended by the CDC, but it is still employed in many practices. There is a risk of accidents with sharp edges, so it’s critical to use puncture-resistant autoclavable gloves if instruments are manually rinsed and washed using a pH-neutral detergent. Even with manual washing, ultrasonic bathing is still necessary to remove debris and organic materials that are easily left behind.

The final step in the maintenance process is treating dental implant instruments with an autoclave. Implant instruments and all stainless steel surgical instruments should be placed in an autoclave at 121°C (249.8°F) for 30 minutes / 15PSI above atmospheric pressure. Or 134°C (273.2°F) for 15 minutes / 30PSI above atmospheric pressure.
